Overview

This position will manage the enterprise risk management program for a dynamic company that is the largest provider in North America of services and products for the inspection, maintenance and restoration of utility and telecommunication structures. This includes responsibility for various insurance programs and managing the general liability, vehicle and workers’ compensation claims and incidents. The position also serves as a guide for company leadership to strategize, streamline, and improve operations as it pertains to risk management.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree preferred but not required
  • A minimum of 5 years progressive experience in a risk management department, or brokerage insurance function
  • Ability to provide technical assistance, consultation and education on risk management topics, both standard basic education and complex focused topics as needed
  • Must possess strong, effective, and diplomatic oral and written communications skills
  • PC/technical skills (Microsoft Office Suite) required
  • Must possess the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to travel up to 10% including overnight

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, manages and implements a comprehensive risk management program, Develops training programs
  • Manages workers’ compensation, general liability, property and commercial auto claims.
  • Negotiates claims settlements.
  • Analyzes root cause and drives the implementation of corrective action plans.
  • Collaborates with operations to influence a culture of risk improvement including the development of training and education programs.
  • Evaluates existing and proposed insurance coverage; creates a program/process to improve the selection/management of property and casualty policies including: workers’ compensation, general liability, and commercial auto insurance; manages all phases of the insurance program renewal process.
  • Partners with the Safety Department to perform loss control audits, investigate near misses, identify areas of vulnerability, and partner with units to formulate committees and close gaps.
  • Manage reporting system to analyze and report trends and identify appropriate interventions to reduce risk, costs, and liability to the organization.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance market influences on designated lines of insurance coverage to ensure Company is protected from any market developments.
