The Benefits Analyst reviews and prepares billing payments to benefit plan carriers and reconciles enrollments against payroll as well as carrier reports. This position plays a key role in the development of processes/audits to ensure data quality control and maintenance within the HRIS system, working with HRIS and/or IT on HRIS configurations and reporting projects as necessary.


  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two (2) years’ related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) including reporting and demonstrated experience with Excel including creating/performing pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s, ifs, ISERROR, filtering, and conditional formatting. 
  • UltiPro and/or Cognos BI experience preferred.
  • General knowledge of health and welfare plan design and administration.
  • Proactively engages others and thoroughly considers customer needs; offers solutions to problems.
  • Demonstrates empathy and patience when interacting with all constituencies. Ability to effectively present information, orally and in written form, to employees and management.
  • Self-directed and independently motivated.


  • Proactively analyzes the benefits data and benefits enrollment information in the HRIS system, identifying inconsistencies and ineligibilities where further research or enrollment / termination of enrollment is needed, and creating / implementing corrective actions.  Utilizing reports from the HR/payroll system (UltiPro) and billing invoices, conducts audits of enrollments and payroll deductions and payments made to vendors.
  • Ensures timely payment of vendor bills, monitor trends in payments and investigates variances. 
  • Leverages strong understanding of benefits and benefit data integrations with carriers and consistently audits the transfer of information to vendors.  Works independently to perform data analysis, system configurations and audits.  Develops analytic reports related to benefit plan and eligibilities and cost analysis. Provides assistance with modeling and costing of plan related changes in support of federal regulations & organizational strategy. Participates in the research and design/modifications, as well as ongoing evaluation and development of improved operations to support all benefit plans  Maintains understanding of external benefit environment, including changes in legal, regulatory and best practice approaches.  
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations that impact benefit plans including ACA reporting; creates and submits reports to meet regulatory compliance requirements  Manages budget reporting / payment of invoices. 
  • Supports and assists Benefits team will open enrollment activities and related projects.
