  • Overview

    Osmose is seeking a seasoned Solutions Architect with proven experience and a passion for conceptualizing and selling solutions. You will be responsible for selling into new prospects as well as farming back into existing customers to expand our solution footprint and ensure solutions can be implemented successfully by our Delivery Team. Measures of success include new customer acquisition rates, up-selling/cross-selling to existing accounts, increasing margins and contributing to overall sales team and business success.


    Under the direction of the Corporate Development Team, the successful Solutions Architect has proven experience working alongside Sales and Product Management to conceptualize, position and sell value-add solutions that solve our customers’ business challenges through our portfolio of product and service offerings. This position supports execution of the strategic growth plan which includes selling to new prospects, upselling/cross-selling to existing customers and growing revenue and margins to achieve company targets. In this capacity, the Solutions Architect is responsible for requirements gathering, solution architecture (to satisfy customer objectives and add business value) and developing winning proposals that illustrate the company’s technical approach and business value.


    This position is home-based (any location, preferably Western U.S.) with some travel.


    • Develop necessary solutions and plans to ensure projects and solutions fulfill the company's business strategies.
    • Provide consulting services to customers; conduct workshops, whiteboard discussions and deliver technical solutions positioning Osmose products & services.
    • Develop new demonstration and sales support kits and ensure that Sales teams can conduct those demonstrations properly.
    • Ensure deals/solutions are aligned with portfolio objectives. Follow and work to continuously update Osmose’s established sales enablement business processes to streamline qualification, pricing and transition to project execution while minimizing disruptions to the business and improving quality of deals.
    • Develop approaches to effectively package Wood Services into turnkey programs and implement these strategies through the Business Development group by providing training, rollout of sales enablement process/tools and providing support.
    • Act as a contributing member of the project team from project inception to completion
    • Actively listen to client problems and needs to implement that information when creating solution plans
    • Collaborate with project managers and other staff members to develop budgets and timelines for solutions
    • Keep skills updated and remain proactively aware of happenings and current events in the industry
    • Mentor, educate, and train colleagues as requested.
    • Interface with Product Management to provide market feedback and suggest product improvements.
    • Assist with the development of Sales & Marketing content (sell sheets, presentations, website) in support of Osmose products and services.
    • Work with Marketing Group to develop/update marketing materials and improve industry message/positioning.
    • Represent Osmose in the industry. Promote Osmose through speaking engagements at industry conferences.


    • A minimum of 3 years of work experience in a relevant role. Experience with development and execution of sales plans, presentations, defining customer requirements, architecting solutions and developing detailed technical proposals and business cases to support opportunities
    • Experience working with/in regulated electric utilities, working with the planning, procurement and management of asset management programs or other large T&D infrastructure or Telecommunication projects an asset.
    • Experience developing presentations, defining customer requirements, architecting solutions and developing detailed technical proposals to support opportunities.
    • General knowledge of the high-technology industry as it pertains to utilities or telecommunications companies and an awareness of consulting approaches and practices.
    • Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and internet research skills.
    • Willingness to travel overnight and work varied hours to achieve the desired results (30-50%).
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to explain complex technical topics in an easily digestible manner.
    • Willingness to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Previous project management experience preferred.
